Ke$ha… so bad it’s good?

I haven’t talked about Ke$ha yet. I’ve heard her album, Animal, and it’s fun in a trashy, guilty pleasure way. Some of her songs are catchy. But, it’s not “good” in an artistic sense. Here’s Ke$ha’s performances of “Tik Tok” and “Your Love Is My Drug” on SNL last weekend. First, not everyone needs to have dance routines. Especially this… well… white. And, the two astronaut “dancers” dance like they were fans of hers off the line waiting to get in and Ke$ha paid them $20. Second, she clearly needs her auto-tune. And, is it just me, or does she sound somewhat like Alanis Morissette? Third, she clearly is trying to do a “conceptual” costume/art direction thing like Lady Gaga. But, didn’t we see this shit in a Busta Rhymes video from 12 years ago? Finally, how sad is that moment at the end of “Your Love Is My Drug” where she stops and asks if anyone wants to makeout, and like one guy said “Yeah!”

I know you need to be watching Archer

It’s created by the one of the guys who created Sealab 2021, Adam Reed. It’s similar in tone to that show, but apparently on the FX channel you can curse. Judy Greer and Jessica Walter from Arrested Development (Kitty and Lucille Bluth, respectively) do voices, as does Chris Parnell from SNL and 30 Rock (Dr. Leo Spaceman). The writing is hilarious and whip-smart, the show is fast paced, and they clearly have no qualms about pushing racial and sexual comedic boundaries. As far as what the show is about, it’s about Sterling Archer, who works for a private spy organization called ISIS. Archer is like James Bond, if Bond was a lazy, privileged rich boy. He’s a dick, and a bit obsessed with getting his ex back, a fellow agent named Lana Kane. Lana Kane is tough as nails, but has a soft spot for her current boyfriend: wimpy, insecure ISIS accountant Cyril (Chris Parnell). ISIS is run by Sterling’s mother Malory Archer (Jessica Walter), who is domineering and constantly on the lookout for a new man. There’s a few other characters, like sexual freak secretary Cheryl (Judy Greer) and sexually frustrated and overweight HR specialist Pam. Often the assignments given to the agents seem besides the point, and much of the humor comes from the interplay between the characters.

Betty White has never hosted SNL?

Ok, this Betty White to host SNL campaign on Facebook is fucking awesome. Fuck yeah, they only need 100,000 more fans to top the amount SNL has for their fan page. We all know this shit is going to happen now. You should join that group! She’s 88, and she still has amazing comic timing. She has no problem talking about sex. And, she called Sarah Palin a crazy bitch on Craig Ferguson.

What Up With That, Mike Tyson?

I gotta say I love this skit. Of course, not enough to actually watch a full SNL episode. There’s a big surprise in this one. Watch Mike Tyson. Yes, the real one. He’s going to blow your mind.
